- 1 head about 3 lbs. red cabbage, cored and shredded
- 1 1⁄2 cups beef stock or 1 1/2 cups beef bouillon
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1⁄2 cup cider vinegar
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1⁄4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
directions
- Combine all ingredients in large stainless-steel pot. Bring to a boil, stir, cover, and simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
