      My husband said these were amazing and the most like Red Lobster biscuits that he has had! I used 5 TBS of butter in place of the shortening. I also used a cup of buttermilk and added 1/2 tsp of garlic powder to the dough. I mixed the cheese into the dry ingredients before adding the milk to ensure I did not have to over mix the dough later. These were so light and delicious! Thank you!

      I also don't stock bisquick so this was perfect! I subbed butter for the shortening and put garlic powder into the mix. Thanks to the other commenter, I mixed the cheese in with the dry ingredients so I wouldn't over mix. Turned out perfect!!

      I am sorry ..... this was very dry and husband said he could taste the baking powder, even tho I cut it down to 2 and 1/2 Tablespoons. I will try again with more buttermilk.

      Have not tried the recipe but want to thank you for posting it without the Bisquick. Some of us don't live in places where it is available. If I ever stop dieting I'll try the recipe, and then review it. :-)
